What is Your Reality?
(John 17)
If you believe you are a Christian, please, honestly and thoughtfully, answer these three questions:
1. Are you a true, born-again Christian, according to New Testament teaching?
(John 3:16-17; 1st Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 10:9-13)
2. Are you a committed disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ in all areas of your life? (Matthew 28:18-20; Luke 6:46)
3. Do you believe the Bible is the inerrant Word of God and the rule for faith and practice? (Psalm 12:6-7; John 17:17)
Now, if you answered “Yes” to all those questions, consider this issue. (Think very carefully before answering.)
Do you hold to a truly and solely Biblical worldview?
Are you sure?
If “Yes”, why and how do you know?
If “No”, why not?
In either case, please explain your stance.
Over time, in theological and philosophical circles certain helpful terms have been coined for specific technical descriptions of certain ideas and phenomena. One such term is the German expression “weltanschauung”, which is translated “worldview”, a word you have, probably, heard. This word refers to the way of looking at the reality around us that a person or group of persons accepts and holds. If a Christian holds an actual Biblical worldview, he will view, approach, and test all matters in all areas of existence according to the Bible’s teachings without admixture or adulteration. If any person cannot, clearly, articulate his worldview and its source/standard, it is quite likely that that person’s beliefs, words, deeds – in fact, life, in general --will be notably inconsistent. A Christian does not have the right before the Lord Jesus to ‘pick and choose’ when or in what areas of life he will obey Him. Jesus Christ is Lord of all.
“Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.” (John 17:17)
